Women Arrived at the Tomb on
the First of the Week

T

he interlinear word study below demonstrates the harmony intended by the four Gospels in reference to the time-centric evidence of the resurrection. While each gospel writer shares different events, they help create a perfect time lapse whole. It is yet again illustrated that the resurrection occurred on the "first of the week, very early." We have shown in each of the other Gospels that "very early" is synonymous with "dawn" and "Fourth Watch of the Night. Thus this is the period prior to sunrise that is still "night" and the end of the of the civil calendar day of the 16th.

New Comprehensive Word for Word Analysis:

      Luke 24:1:
On the first of the week at dawn, very deeply early, unto the tomb they came, bringing the prepared spices.

      Luke 24:13:
And behold, two went out together, after that same civil day was departed, unto a village . . .

Commentary:

Verse 1
Luke defines yet again, that the women arrived at the tomb not only on the "first of the week at dawn," but as a second witness declares it to have been "very deeply early." We discovered in the other gospel portrayals that "dawn" is the period of twilight prior to sunrise. It is also synonymous with the Fourth Watch of the night. Thus, rendering "dawn" the very last portion of the night. Adding this knowledge to the fact that the "day" as well as a "civil calendar date" commence at sunrise, we conclude that the resurrection occurred on the 16th and not the night of the 15th.

Verse 13
As a result of placing the Greek words in their original order and utilizing the word "after" (Greek - #1722 en), which was omitted by the translators, it becomes apparent that Luke intended to show that the journey to Emmaus occurred on the 17th, after all, and not on the 16th. This is because it states, "after that same civil day was departed," referring to the resurrection occurrence on the 16th. Therefore, the entire record of the events following the resurrection of Yahushua, our Saviour, support that indeed the resurrection occurred during the Fourth Watch of the night of the 16th, at the end of the civil calendar date. This is a full 24 hours later than most of the world believes the resurrection occurred. But for the first time we can solve the Messiah's riddle of the "Sign of Jonah," as there is now a full accounting of "three days and three nights." Take a moment to review the illustration of the "Sign of Jonah."

This word study was designed to be compared to the written record of the other gospel writers that pinpoint "early in the morning" as the Fourth Watch of the night, for this same Resurrection event. For a complete and thorough understanding, please compare this study with the other three Gospels, but specifically the Gospel of John. Matthew 28:1; Mark 16:1-2, 9; John 20:1.

May Yahuwah continue to bless you as you diligently seek Him.
